Scan to BIM Service (As Built) is a way to capture a physical object's exact size and shape into the computer world as a digital 3-dimensional representation. It measures fine details and capture free-form shapes to quickly generate highly accurate data in a form of "point clouds" from the surface of an object.

Our Scan to BIM Service (As Built) is ideally suited to the measurement and inspection of contoured surfaces and complex geometries which require massive amounts of data for their accurate description. The output is then manually converted into a BIM project to digitise a facility.

How accurate are the measurements?

As a rule of thumb, the closer and more scans taken, the more accurate the result. Generally, scans
are between 1 to 6mm in accuracy.

How long does it take and how much does it cost to scan my facility?

To obtain a decent data, each scan positions would take approximately 3 to 5 minutes. Depending
on the size, level of details, accuracy required, outputs requested etc, we will then be able to
provide detailed quotes or ballpark figures.

Can the 3D Laser Scanner pass through walls?

No, it is only possible to measure what the human eye can see. Likewise, the laser cannot measure
effectively through water, highly reflective surfaces or smoke, as the laser beam will be subject to
light diffraction as it passes through these materials.

Is it possible to scan an area in complete darkness?

Yes, the laser emitted by the 3D Laser Scanners are not affected by either darkness or daylight. As
a result, there will be no problem in scanning caves, tunnels, buildings without lighting in night time
provided they are accessible.

What other related service do you provide?

Some clients also requested for other related service like BIM Modelling Service and 2D As Built Drawing Service.
